Travel Recommendations for the Holiday Season

With the holiday season approaching and travel plans underway, it is important to consider the following aspects, especially depending on your migratory status in Chile:

General Recommendations

  • Verify the validity of your passport or ID (at least 6 months before the expiration date).
  • Ensure you carry all required documentation for traveling with minors, if applicable.
  • Confirm with the airline or transport company whether there are additional requirements for your destination.

1.- Temporary Resident Category (Tourist)

If you enter and leave Chile as a tourist, keep the following in mind:

Documents for leaving Chile:

  • Valid passport or ID (depending on your nationality).
  • Unique Migration Card issued by PDI (Investigative Police of Chile).
  • Extension of Temporary Stay (if applicable).

Documents for entering Chile:

  • Valid passport or ID.
  • Ticket showing departure from Chile within 90 days of entry.
  • Proof of financial means (USD 46 per day of stay).
  • Details of your accommodation in Chile.

Traveling with minors:

  • Apostilled and translated birth certificate, if applicable.
  • Travel authorization signed by both parents, apostilled and translated.

2.- Temporary or Permanent Resident Category

For those with valid residency:

Documents for leaving and entering Chile:

  • Valid passport or ID.
  • Valid Foreign National Identity Card.

Traveling with minors:

  • Apostilled and translated birth certificate, if applicable.
  • Travel authorization signed by both parents, apostilled and translated.

3.- Resident in Process (Temporary or Permanent)

If your residency is in process, ensure the following:

Documents for leaving and entering Chile:

  • Valid passport or ID.
  • Expired Foreign National Identity Card.
  • Certificate of Residency in Process or its extension.

Traveling with minors:

  • Apostilled and translated birth certificate, if applicable.
  • Travel authorization signed by both parents, apostilled and translated.

We recommend planning and organizing your travels in advance, always checking for updates on migratory requirements.

Happy holidays and safe travels!
